Ideally, a gift is given to the person celebrating an anniversary. But this time is different, because SIP Law Firm, celebrating its 15th anniversary, is instead giving a gift in the form of a book launch.
Specifically, during the celebration of SIP Law Firm’s 15th anniversary, the latest edition of a book titled “Sengketa Medik – Alternatif Penyelesaian Perselisihan antara Dokter dengan Pasien” was launched. This book was written by Dr. Safitri Hariyani Saptogino, S.H., M.H., who is a Founding Partner of SIP Law Firm, and Asdel Fira, S.H., CHRP, a Senior Associate at SIP Law Firm.
The good news is that this book has been updated in accordance with Law No. 17 of 2023. This law, along with its implementing regulations, redefines healthcare practices and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Dr. Safitri Hariyani Saptogino recounts the process behind the “birth” of this book. According to her, the book stems from concerns about the specter of criminalization that often haunts doctors in the practice of their profession.
“At that time, it was very frightening, the law posed criminal, civil, and all sorts of threats that could be imposed on doctors. This made the fear very real, because if deemed to have made a mistake, patients could easily bring the matter into the criminal realm,” she said.
This book was created as a relevant academic guide not only for legal practitioners, healthcare workers, and academics. And it’s also hoped that this book can provide guidance for students in understanding the dynamics and resolution of disputes in the field of healthcare services.
She hopes this book can serve as a strategic guide for medical professionals to understand legal protections. Additionally, for patients, so they understand how to navigate resolution pathways when disputes arise. This ensures that any disputes can be resolved appropriately.
